Paris in High Summer

A new hotel opening is an excuse to revisit a favourite neighbourhood of Paris.

Stay

Designed as a “comfortable refuge in profound contrast to the intense urban atmosphere of the capital” in the words of its architect, we are excited by the opening of Hotel Orphée in the Vth arrondissement. Small but perfectly formed rooms embrace a soothing colour palette of cream and terracotta. We love the modernist storage units made of warm Okoumé wood.

Explore

Le Cinquième as we call it is an authentic part of the city and bears dear memories of our student days.

Be sure to explore the Jardin des Plantes (children and adults will enjoy this immersive exhibition that revives extinct animals and is available in English),

Wander to the market rue Mouffetard and have a mint tea and Cornes de Gazelle in the fig tree garden of the Mosquée de Paris

Dinner

Feast on roast chicken and île flottante (with crème Anglaise) at the ephemeral terrasse of the Rôtisserie d’Argent, set on the banks of the Seine for the summer. There is no better view of Paris.
